Most leaf-protection products sold in Central Florida fail one of three ways: surface-tension reverse-curve covers overflow during a real Florida cloudburst, foam inserts retain water and rot the fascia, and cheap plastic screens warp under the summer sun. We avoid those entirely and install two product lines that actually hold up here. Bulldog perforated aluminum screen is our workhorse — $6 per linear foot installed in the 6-inch profile, $7 per linear foot in 7-inch, dropping to $5.50 and $6.50 respectively on jobs over 250 linear feet. It keeps oak leaves, palm debris, and shingle grit out, costs a fraction of micro-mesh, and is what most of our customers actually buy. Stainless-steel micro-mesh is the premium option — small enough mesh aperture to also stop pine needles — but it runs into the high end of the $5-$20 range and we are honest that most homeowners do not need it. The trade-off: a property under heavy pine canopy benefits from micro-mesh; a property with mostly oak does not. Pricing across the range is competitive with leaf-guard franchises that charge $20+ per linear foot for inferior surface-tension covers. One important caveat: even with guards installed, properties under heavy oak or pine canopy still need a yearly blower cleaning to keep the guards themselves clear — we charge for that based on linear footage, never free. 10-year manufacturer warranty on either product line.
Free on-site evaluation: we identify the actual debris source on your property — oak, pine, palm, magnolia — and recommend the right product (Bulldog screen for most, micro-mesh for heavy pine).
Existing-gutter check first: if your current gutters are too small, sagging, or have failing hangers, we tell you before installing guards on top of a system that needs replacement.
Install: Bulldog perforated aluminum screen or stainless micro-mesh, screwed (not clipped) into the gutter rim every 18 inches and seated under the first row of shingles — wind-tested to 110 mph.
No-shingle-warranty-void install: we never bend, lift, or modify the roofing felt; the guard sits in the existing drip edge so your roof manufacturer warranty stays intact.
Honest cleaning expectations: even with guards, properties under heavy oak or pine canopy need a yearly blower cleaning to keep the guard surface clear; we quote that based on linear footage and never include it free.
